SEWAGE PROJECT UPDATE: Beginning the week of December 12th, Grey Avenue and Cooper Road will be closed to thru traffic for approximately one month due to the ongoing sewer project.
All residents will be able to access their homes during the closure.
There will also be a detour set up from Cooper Road at Route 356 to Winfield Road back to Grey Avenue. Local traffic can also use Warnick Road to Winfield Road.
Emergency Services and School Bus drivers have been notified of this closure. If there are any questions or concerns please contact the Township Office or Mortimer's Excavating.
WINFIELD TOWNSHIP BRIDGE CLOSING: After a work session meeting with Kevin Gray, planning/bridge manager of Butler County, it was agreed at the November Township Supervisors meeting to proceed with having the county workers rebuild the Denny Mills Bridge. Mr. Robb will meet with the county Commissioners to establish an agreement between Winfield Township and Butler County in which the county will design, obtain permits, and construct the bridge with some Winfield labor & materials where needed and/or appropriate. A payment arrangement will be determined and executed. If all permits, agreements and approvals are obtained, it is estimated that the bridge should be completed by the end of 2012. The county has two bridge projects already on their schedule so hopefully by mid-summer the construction will begin. The expected total project cost is approximately $200,000. We are very appreciative to Commissioner Pinkerton and David Johnston, Director of Butler County Planning Commission for their outreach and leadership to resolve this matter in a cost effective and efficient manner. Through this collaboration, it is estimated that over $2 million dollars will be saved and the bridge will be completed three years earlier than working with PennDOT.
